Sick again

Well it looks like Zachary has some random illness again. I spent the last two hours cleaning up vomit, changing bedsheets and jammies and I am sure the night is still young. He has this habit of picking up any illness that comes within a one-mile radius of his little body. Oh how I wish I could invent some force field that could protect my little urchins from all these mutating bugs. I briefly thought about just staying home until they are teenagers then I realized we would have to change the name from The Yellow House to the Smith Asylum. Thanks but no thanks.

All three - finally!

It took me six months, but I finally got a decent picture of all three of my kids in the same photo!

Got Rhythm?

Aunt Amy and I took the kids to Prosper Party Place today. It has indoor bounce houses, dance floor, arcade, and pizzaria. The kids had an absolute blast since they had the place all to themselves. One of the favorite spots was the dance floor which was equipped with strobe lights and bubbles.

Here is a video of the kids dancing away. The girls had some good rhythm, but I'm thinking that some dance lessons might come in handy for the boys in the future.

Getting So Big

It is so hard to believe that my little girl is now 6 months old. She can sit up for long periods of time now and gets very irritated when placed on her belly because she can't reach all the toys she wants to play with!

Here she was on Sunday.

This is what she does when you lay her down and she really wants to sit up. She must have some incredibly strong abdominal muscles!

Six month picture.

This was today at our play day. I just cracked up after I took the picture and simply had to share it!

I Get Keely

Before Hannah's birthday party, I asked her if it would be okay for boys to come. She told me that Aidan could come, but he had to play with Zachary. In her words, "I get Keely and Zachary gets Aidan." She loves her cousin soooooo much! The kids came over to play on Tuesday and I got a few pictures.

The girls were washing their hands and making cute faces in the mirror.

The boys had a blast with cars, trucks, and manly dress up items. I even spied them wrestling at one point.

Boys are so different from girls, but just as much fun! I am so glad that Zach can be a real boy through play time with cousins and friends because most days he is way outnumbered by girls!

Hannah's New Bedding

I am seriously behind on my posts! Here is a quick one to share pictures of Hannah's new bedding. We compiled all her birthday money and got her some bedding that matches her curtains and walls. She was so excited!

Sleeping Zach

I wish my boy would remember the joy of taking naps. He is always so much happier when he has one. After a week of holding his ground, he passed out at the dinner table on Thursday night. This was, of course, after drinking half a gallon of orange Kool-Aid, running around outside, then sitting down for supper and throwing up the Kool-Aid into his dinner. A few minutes after cleaning up, he clutched a piece of bread and zonked out.

I transferred him to his bed fully clothed and he slept for over 12 hours. I had an incredibly happy boy Friday. If only he would do that every day!!

Tuck the Turtle

We had our first pet turtle this week. Daddy found a tiny little turtle in our pond and brought him in. I was instantly smitten and Hannah named him Tuck. I set up a temporary sanctuary for him and for two days he lived in the bay window of our kitchen.

But, alas, after some investigation he was found to be a snapping turtle. So Daddy took him back out to the pond where he will live out his days in mucky happiness.

Look how tiny and cute he is! I am positive that other area wildlife will make their way into our home, but for now two days is quite enough.

Palm Leaves

Hannah came home on Sunday with a palm leaf she had made in Sunday school. I have been looking at that palm leaf all week, remembering Easters past when I too had made palm leaves and listening to the story of Jesus as he entered Jerusalem. Sometimes I forget what Easter is all about and it is humbling to be reminded of it through my children.

On a humorous note, I was reading Baby Bangs and she referenced a blog entry from her sister yesterday. If you are a good Southern Baptist and want a little chuckle, read it here.

Four years old

Four years ago at 9:04 this morning, I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. She arrived so quickly that I hardly had time to think. Since then, I have just been trying to keep up with her. She is sassy and smart and oh-so-headstrong. There are times when I am positive that I am looking in the mirror and it's a little scary. She can be very demanding, but can love you so fiercely that sometimes it physically hurts. I love her with all my heart and I can't imagine life without her. Happy Birthday my sweet Hannah!
